Spend scarce resources on the next useful milestone

A goal-first method for shards, medals, currencies and speedups.

Free-to-play and low-spending players choosing between competing upgrades.

The short answer

Spend scarce currencies on a named, reachable benefit. Keep flexible resources flexible until you need them, compare offers in the same currency, and stop an event push when the next reward costs more than you want to give up.

Separate a useful upgrade from a larger number

Begin with the next problem you want to solve: a missing unlock, a squad that cannot survive, an EXP cap or a resource shortage. Name the upgrade that addresses it, then price its immediate gate. An unrelated power increase may not move that goal closer.

Hero EXP, specific shards, universal shards, research medals and equipment materials are separate budgets. An abundance in one does not fund a shortage in another. Keep unopened choice chests separate until you decide which resource to select.

Make competing goals share one inventory

Save the material budgets for the ranges under consideration and allocate available stock in priority order. Move a goal upward to see what loses funding. That is the trade-off to assess before spending; a saved target does not reserve resources inside the game.

For a shop offer, compare the same item, quantity, currency and limit period. A missing reset period is not a daily allowance. Regional cash prices do not establish a universal exchange rate between currencies.

Use timing without losing the goal

An eligible scoring day can reward an action you already need. Check the action’s units, bonus eligibility, claim gate and remaining time. Do not pursue an expensive extra threshold only because you already spent something on the event.

Keep a reserve for the next known bill rather than an arbitrary percentage. Recalculate after spending or receiving rewards: saved material budgets are snapshots, while My Plan’s inventory is the stock you explicitly record.

Give each scarce item a job

Universal shards, speedups and shop currencies preserve choices. Before using one, name the milestone it funds. A four-star target, a required building finish or an event chest you can afford is a clearer decision than buying whatever looks rare.

There is no need to put a made-up gem value on everything. Compare offers for the same item in the same currency. If two offers use different currencies, ask what else each currency can buy and how much you earn. Without that context, an exchange-rate ranking is only a guess.

Set your event ceiling before you start

Choose a personal milestone and calculate the remaining actions from your existing points. First count work you needed anyway. Only then price the extra work. This separates a useful upgrade with an event reward from an unwanted upgrade bought to justify the reward.

Ranking is a moving target because other players can spend too. A fixed chest is easier to budget than a place on a leaderboard. Leave yourself a stopping rule even if the ranking looks close halfway through.

Recheck after the account changes

A good purchase can become a poor one once the immediate shortage is solved. After a major upgrade, update your stock and your next gate before repeating the same shop routine. Keep actual rewards separate from rewards you hope to win.

A paid pack is optional. This guide does not need a spending recommendation to be useful: a clear reserve, a realistic event target and a functioning squad are decisions you can make with the account you already have.

Before you commit

  • Name the benefit before spending.
  • Compare like-for-like shop offers.
  • Check expiry and carryover rules.
  • Set an event stopping point.
  • Keep one shared inventory across all goals.

Common questions

Is the rarest item always the best buy?

No. Availability, your next milestone, purchase limits and the alternatives in that currency matter. A rare item you cannot use yet may delay a more useful upgrade.
