Kingdom laws: protected targets, Brands and pardons

Check protection rules for Castles, wagons and Bounties before you attack.

The short answer

Check enacted laws before attacking a Castle, plundering a Trade Wagon or taking a Bounty Task. A technically available action can still violate the kingdom's active rule. A listed punishment is not proof that the punishment currently applies to your account.

Check the law for the action you intend

The active kingdom decides which laws are enacted. A rule existing in the reference does not mean it is active today. Alliance target restrictions can also be stricter than what the client allows.

Before you confirm a sensitive target

Read the target kingdom and the active law panel. Do not use the availability of the attack button as proof that the action follows kingdom or alliance rules. A Castle attack and a wagon plunder need different checks.

If a warning appears, read it before proceeding. Being able to carry more loot does not remove a violation or make the net result worthwhile.

If your account has a Mark or Brand

Inspect the exact active title, affected stat and duration. The recorded Brand of Pride affects Research Speed by −1%, for example; it is not a blanket subtraction from every account action.

Check who has permission to punish or pardon. The references distinguish King-only controls from Chancellor authority. Do not assume every Royal position can clear every record or apply every action.

Use the active effective stat, once

If the displayed research total already includes a speed penalty, do not subtract the penalty again. Speed is a rate, so a penalty is not automatically a flat percentage added to the timer.

Before you commit

  • Correct kingdom and enacted rules checked.
  • Target action matched to its law.
  • Alliance instructions read.
  • Actual active modifier and affected stat confirmed.
  • Permission and pardon rules checked if needed.

Common questions

Are all seven Brands always active?

No. They are configured punishment options, not a statement that every player carries them. Use the actual account panel for your current modifier.
