Recruiting is not the same as assigning
The recorded workers are Hathaway, Chamberlain, and Derian, Master-at-Arms. Each takes ten of its own shards to recruit. Station the worker at the Castle to receive the stated bonus.
Worker ranks are separate from ordinary hero levels and stars. The full recorded rank path has 26 ranks and 585 total shards including recruitment. If the worker is already recruited, the original ten shards are not a new cost.
Hathaway: more Intel chests, with a daily cap
Hathaway is the Chamberlain. Recruit and station her at the Castle for the worker bonus. Higher ranks change chests per qualifying task and the daily cap, so the useful breakpoint depends on how many tasks you actually complete.

| Rank | Total shards | Chests per task | Daily chest cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10 | 1 | 5 |
| 6 | 35 | 2 | 10 |
| 11 | 85 | 3 | 15 |
| 16 | 185 | 4 | 20 |
| 21 | 385 | 4 | 25 |
| 26 | 585 | 5 | 30 |
Choose Hathaway by the Intel work you complete
Rank 1 gives one chest per eligible task up to five daily. Rank 6 gives two per task up to ten daily, while rank 11 lists three up to fifteen. A higher cap helps only when enough qualifying tasks are completed.
A practical rank breakpoint
From rank 1 to rank 6 takes 25 additional Hathaway shards: 35 cumulative minus the ten used to recruit. At the listed rank-6 rate, five qualifying tasks can reach the ten-chest daily cap. Check current task eligibility and claims.
Derian: flat ATK and march-size bonuses
Derian is the Master-at-Arms. His listed Hero ATK and Hero March Size increases are flat additions while assigned to the Castle. A listed +100 ATK is not +100% ATK. His shards cannot pay Hathaway’s rank bill.

| Rank | Total shards | Hero ATK added | Hero March Size added |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10 | 100 | 1 |
| 6 | 35 | 225 | 2 |
| 11 | 85 | 350 | 4 |
| 16 | 185 | 475 | 6 |
| 21 | 385 | 700 | 8 |
| 26 | 585 | 1000 | 10 |
Do not compare the two as one shard pool
Hathaway’s value depends on Intel activity and capped extra chests. Derian’s listed ATK and march-size additions apply to the assigned worker’s scope. Choose the benefit your account uses instead of comparing rank numbers alone.
A displayed +100 Hero ATK is a flat amount, not +100%. Likewise, worker-specific shards cannot fund the other worker just because both are UR. Read current acquisition offers separately from the rank table.

- Worker-specific shards kept separate.
Common questions
Do I need to assign a recruited worker?
Yes. The recorded Hathaway and Derian bonuses apply while the worker is stationed at the Castle.
Does Derian’s +100 ATK mean +100%?
No. His listed Hero ATK and Hero March Size effects are flat additions, not percentages.
